My Reflection
This was probably the hardest project I have done so far in my schooling. The hardest part about it was trying to keep the deadlines in order. We failed at this task and ended up having to do a lot of the project very close to the end of the semester. Another thing that is very important in this project was to find a good idea that you were interested in, because if you weren't it would be very hard to keep focused on the project. For the most part we were able to stay on task, however there were some days where we could barely focus on the project. If we had more time, I would have liked to have molded a final prototype out of plastic, as that would have made the final prototype look better (no strands of glue lining the insert) as well as be easier to make if we decided to mass produce it.
Hayden's Reflection
This project was one of the hardest school projects i have ever had to do. Not only did we have to design something to solve a problem on our own, we also had to come up with the problem we were going to be solving for the next few months. The hardest part was probably creating that problem only because after we began the design process with our problem there was no going back. We also found that picking materials was very difficult because of all the possible mistakes there are. I think next time we will have to not only do a good deal more research but also determine the best way to research the right things. After creating our product testing was relatively easy. We were able to do one of them over a short period of time while the other was rather tedious This was only because the crash test needed to be done three times, meaning we had to re-glue the pegs three times. After this procedure was complete we began working on our presentation which wasn't too difficult. All of those in our group are fairly confident so presenting in front a large group was not too bad. We unfortunately talked too much on the dry run making our time run out and resulting in a fairly bad grade. Our second time through on the day of the presentation was much better and we were able to efficiently describe our product. All in all this project in my opinion was a success. I was very happy with my partners work as well as what i was able to contribute and im glad we were given this opportunity.
Jacob's Reflection
This project was the hardest project over the four years that I have been in engineering. It was a great learning experience but at the same time one of the worst of thinking and creating our very own idea to solve a current problem in today's world. Many mistakes were made over the time of working on this project such as materials, and time spent on a certain part of the project. But with perseverance and determination we were able to fight through the struggles and produce a product that people would actually want to purchase, and we could make a profit if we were to sell them. This year of engineering has taught me that scheduling is everything to get the best possible product. I think that I have learned a lot over the past four years of engineering all of the tools and skills that I have learned will help me greatly in college, and my future career. Thank you Ms. Z for a great 4 years of high school.
